Kids Ministry (Birth - 5th Grade) of Sugar Hill Church
Your child moves from one stage in life to another quicker than you would like. Milestones are important stages in your child’s life where we want to equip, love, and serve with you. Those moments are fleeting, and it is important to pause and recognize each one so you can remember what God taught you and your child during this time. We want to offer encouragement, resources, community, and celebration at these special moments in your child and family’s life.
1. Expectant Parents
From the very moment you know you are expecting a child, Sugar Hill Kids wants to know!
If you are expecting, adopting, have a new baby or know someone who recently delivered, please email the Sugar Hill Kids team at [email protected]. We would like to pray for you and offer timely encouragement to you as you begin to prepare for your child.
2. Baby Dedication
As believers, we must recognize that children belong first to God, and parents have the awesome responsibility of caring for His children. At Sugar Hill Church, we encourage parents to dedicate their children to God and commit to raise them in His ways.

3. Your Child’s Decision to Follow Christ & Baptism
It is our prayer that you as a parent would feel equipped and ready to answer questions your child may have about salvation. The Kids Ministry Team is always available to meet with you and your child, offer resources to help, and more importantly pray for you as you begin to disciple your child. Several times a year, we offer a Kids New Christians Class for children (along with a parent) who are asking questions about salvation, have recently made a decision to follow Christ, or are ready to be baptized.

Next Kids New Christians Class:

The Kids New Christians Class is a class especially for children who have recently accepted Christ as their Savior and would like to be baptized or who have an expressed an interest in taking the next steps toward Jesus. It meets in the Underground, and parents attend with their children.
4. Transition to Student Ministries
Middle school brings significantly increased expectations and responsibilities, and this time truly is a transition from being a child to becoming a young adult. We provide a number of events to make this transition as smooth as possible, including rising 6th grade orientation, Passing of the Key, Promotion Sunday, and Middle School Camp, designed to transition students well to middle school
Passing of the Key is an annual event where 5th graders have the opportunity to reflect on their years in Kids Ministry, while anticipating what God wants to do as they enter middle school. Our Kids Ministry Team leads our kids on a hike up a mountain as we think about the many things we have learned together over the years. At the top of the mountain, kids are handed off to our Student Ministry Team as they welcome them officially to Student Ministry at Sugar Hill Church.
Then on Promotion Sunday, they join Middle School Large Group for the first time, completing their transition to Student Ministries. For more info on what to expect on Promotion Sunday, click here.
